Baba Library Project, Baba Cameroon

Dear Wonderful People,

I am writing on behalf of the Baba community to thank you for your generous gift of support for our library project.  Thank you for taking an interest in a community halfway around the world.  Thank you for trusting us to use your hard-earned money wisely.  And thank you for believing in small projects like this one that can have tremendous impact on the lives of thousands of students.  These children now have access to books for the first time in their lives.  Imagine the impact this will have on their literacy skills, their academic performance, and their future!

This is Emmanuella, the first librarian.  My counterpart Yvette and I are now in the process of training 12 additional high school girls to run the library after we're gone.  The librarians are being trained in teaching literacy to children, HIV prevention and reproductive health to keep themselves healthy, and job skills they can use for the rest of their lives
